July 1st: The Return of the Crew
Yes, loyal blog-entry readers, we're back, albeit in a limited capacity. After a short hiatus, Rich decided it was time to gather the Crew together for some summertime eatin's (A.K.A a barbeque). He decided to be his cheesy little self and re-dub the night the Bar-B-Crew which, admittedly, is pretty funny, though when spoken it conjures up images of a pack of punk-ass Barbies hanging out in a parking lot somewhere. I decided it would be funnier to call it the "Crew-B-Cue".... he did not. After brawling for nearly 20 minutes in a scene remeniscent of the movie "They Live", we finally decided to just let it go.
But I digress.
The food was excellent. The conversation was excellent. And to boot, we had a new member join us.. Toni from Cygnus! Along with Linda, Joe, Steve, Sue, Rich and myself, that makes 7 - tying our record high number of attendees. Despite these amazing numbers, Steve was the only one reading, at least to my recollection, please correct me if I am mistaken. But as always, it's not about quantity, and the quality of the night was unparalleled. Topics of discussion ranged from the mandatory space nerd insights to a surprise topic: love and relationships. Ironically the topic that wasn't covered was "How Space Nerd Insights Affect Love and Relationships", but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
Anyway, welcome aboard Toni, we look forward to hearing your readings!

AAAggh!! A split second after hitting the publish button, I noticed there was a button that said "Change Time..." presumably addressing the problem Steve had referred to about the wrong time zone being posted. My post had been written in actuality at 12:49 PM on July 20th, and this one a minute later. However for some reason I cannot fix the time on COMMENTS, only main posts.
Grrr...... Well, at least it's refreshing to know that we now have a way to more accurately record out thoughts. Steve will be able to sleep easy now.

Hmmmm.... In baseball, they call this kind of statistical analysis "home town scoring." We actually had even more than 7 at the "eats" part of it, but the "Crewing" part was down a few from there. Linda and Sue had things to do, places to go. So we were down to 5 for the reading. If memory serves me correctly. Paul, Joe, Rich, Toni, and I were there.

You are correct. Toni almost read. We wanted her to go first, but as a first-timer, she was a little sheepish about that. Sheep get such a bad rap when it comes to being tentative, don't they? Anyway, when 3 in the morning started looming, we decided it was time to call it an evening.

We're always all over the map. Equally able to mix up real life issues with spacer nerdom.

Indeed.

Oh, don't be so sure about that! I'm more agitated than ever by this issue, because at least I used to be able to know that the time-stamps would be consistently wrong and off because of the time zones. So future thymemage and timeline freaks could figure it all out by simply heeding the warning in that "Something you should PACIFICALLY know about this Blog" post and doing the math. However, now it brings up the added question: "Is this entry's time off because of the timezone? Or would I be MAKING it off by assuming that it needs to be adjusted, because it was already adjusted at the time of the post by the blog author?"
For the record, I'm keeping mine in the Pacific default.

I would just like to, belatedly, say thanks for the welcome! I haven't said this before now because while you all talked about the blog, none of you ever bothered to give me a link. (grin) But Paul very kindly linked to it in his new blog, so now I can lurk here as well. Hopefully one of these days there will be another Crew meeting, and you will actually convince me to read something. Maybe.
